The north polar cap is tilted towards Earth and plainly visible, although it's late martian summer in the northern hemisphere and the cap is small. The bright spot right of center is Elysium, and the bright Hellas basin is rotating into view at lower left. Syrtis Major is the dark area to lower left. | Mars Details: | | Night of: | Sunday March 30, 2014 | Site: | Laguna Niguel | Local Time: | 12:38 AM | Mar 31, 2014 | Altitude: | 47° | | Distance: | 59,454,000 miles | Magnitude: | -1.31 mV | Diameter: | 14.64 arcsec | Tilt: | +20.7° NP | CM: | 260° | Phase Angle: | 7.51° | Illumination: | 99.57% |
